K-Flicka
Dana Avant Jr. a.k.a K-Flicka was born and raised on the West side of Chicago. He fell in love with rap at an early age after hearing the song Pop Goes The Weasel by 3rd Bass. Thanks to his parents and older sister, he was introduced to several genres of music including Rock, Jazz and R & B. By the age of 11 Dana began to take rap more seriously. He and two childhood friends; William Adrian Harris and Timothy Cephus; linked up with some other neighborhood friends to form a group called The Uptown Shorties. In efforts of bettering their skills, the group would constantly have freestyle battles on his grandmother’s front porch. During these battles, K-Flicka realized his talent for rap by the responses from the crowd after he would deliver a catchy punch-line.
Dana considers himself shy and always felt it was easy for him to express himself through his writings. He was introduced to Richmen Ent. by friend William Adrian Harris. The two had formed several groups together before, but after becoming a part of Richmen Ent. they formed the group Creativ Grind. They began work on an album as well as featured on several mix tapes including No Struggle No Progress, Vols. 1 & 2. Dana stepped back from rap for a short amount of time for personal reasons, but he re-emerged as a solo artist. His influences include AR – 15, Jay-Z, DMX, 2Pac, Notorious BIG, The LOX, and his mother.
